PADI® Open Water Diver is the first scuba certification level. A highly-trained PADI Instructor will teach you how to scuba dive in a relaxed, supportive learning environment. By the end of the course, you’ll have the skills and knowledge to dive at home or abroad and be an ambassador for the underwater world.
The course covers a wide range of topics, including:
- Scuba diving equipment and how to use it.
- Dive planning and execution.
- Underwater safety and emergency procedures.
- Marine life and conservation.
The course is typically conducted over three to four days and includes both classroom instruction and confined water and open water dives. Open water dives may be conducted in a pool or in a body of water, such as a lake or ocean, where the student can practice their skills in a real-world environment.
Upon successful completion of the course, you will be certified as a PADI Open Water Diver. This certification allows you to dive to a maximum depth of 18 meters (60 feet) with a buddy.
